If any cryptocurrency exemplifies the potential of digital investments, it is Dogecoin. What began as a joke on Reddit in late 2013 has grown into a billion-dollar asset available to anybody. However, were you aware that Dogecoin is not the only meme cryptocurrency?
Besides Dogecoin, these are some of the most popular meme cryptos, in case you decide to invest in any of them.
1. MonaCoin
MonaCoin, or MONA, was launched in 2014 and is possibly the most well-known meme cryptocurrency on the market. MonaCoin was developed by an anonymous Internet user known as “Mr. Watanabe” and is the most widely utilized meme cryptocurrency in Japan. It is accepted as payment by a small number of physical and online establishments in Japan.
MonaCoin was called after an ASCII text-based meme of a cat. If you’re unfamiliar with ASCII text, it’s a collection of characters that make up digital text.
In comparison to other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Litecoin, which have block periods of 2.5 and 10 minutes, respectively, MonaCoin’s block time is 1.5 minutes. This results in reduced transaction costs and increased energy efficiency.
What is the point of discussing energy efficiency? Trading and utilizing bitcoins have a negative impact on the environment.
Despite its lightning-fast block time, MonaCoin’s storage capacity is somewhat restricted. It is currently only supported by two third-party e-wallets, Electrum MONA and Coinomi.
2. PooCoin
This meme cryptocurrency is rapidly rising in popularity. At one point, it outperformed Dogecoin in terms of gains.
PooCoin, which trades under the symbol POOCOIN, was introduced in March 2021 and was dubbed “the new Dogecoin.” There is little information available about this new meme cryptocurrency, but one thing is certain: it is here to unlock features on its own dedicated app based on Binance Smart Chain.
As is the case with many of the meme cryptos on our list, PooCoin is rapidly gathering investor interest and is therefore highly likely to become the next Dogecoin very soon.
3. Garlicoin
Garlicoin, or GRLC, began in a 2013 Reddit post. A user, u/DigitalizedOrange, stated in a post that if the post received more than 30,000 upvotes, they would create the meme cryptocurrency. Indeed, it did, and thus Garlicoin was born.
Garlicoin’s code was derived from that of Litecoin, although it has a block period of only 40 seconds. Garlicoin’s development team has claimed that the method is not intended to be mined by crypto-specific mining apps. Additionally, its developers own the majority of the coins, and this market scarcity results in a higher value.

Orange referred to this cryptocurrency as “the coin you never imagined you needed, and probably never will.” However, given the growing interest in the meme crypto scene, it may be just what we need.
4. Pirate Chain
Pirate Chain, often known as ARRR (yep, “arrr”), is another meme cryptocurrency that has been growing at an absurd rate in the meme cryptocurrency market.
Pirate Chain was developed in 2018 as a cryptocurrency for confidential transactions. This means that it is programmed with a specific type of code—in this example, ZK-Snarks—that allows for only private and anonymous peer-to-peer transactions on the blockchain. Additionally, this privacy assures that no double-spending occurs, that nobody can see what a user purchased, and that nobody can know how much money a person has in their wallet. 5. Banano
Banano, or BAN, was also introduced in 2018, similar to Pirate Chain. It self-identifies as a crypto that is “feeless, fast, and potassium-dense.” The cryptocurrency is based on the directed acyclic graph (DAG) data structure, a type of graph data structure found on the blockchain.
It promotes itself as a “fun” meme money that is excellent for crypto newbies and is distributed for free on major social media platforms. Banano is available on a number of prominent cryptocurrency exchange services, including Mercatox and Vitex. Banano may be kept in a variety of wallets, the most popular of which being Kalium, Vault, and Pippin Developer.

6. Elongate
Yes, there is a cryptocurrency dedicated to Elon Musk’s memes. If you didn’t previously know, Musk has tweeted multiple times about Dogecoin over the last couple of years, completely engaged in the joke. As a result of his engagement, the meme cryptocurrency’s value skyrocketed.
Musk tweeted in March 2021, requesting that the media call any future crises involving him as “Elongate.”
Soon after, engineers on the blockchain released Elongate, a “frictionless, high yield, deflationary coin” built on Binance. According to the Elongate website, this coin aspires to operate as a bridge between cryptocurrency and charity by charging passive transaction fees and accepting active donations.
Elongate can be acquired on the cryptocurrency exchange websites Pancakeswap and Blockfolio and saved in the MetaMask wallet.
7. Baguette Token
If a cryptocurrency exists for garlic, you can bet there will be one for its closest friend, baguettes. Since 2020, Baguette Tokens, or BGTT, have been made fresh from the bakery. Its origins can be traced back to a community meme project called ERC-20, a distributed ledger technology based on Ethereum.
Through its crispy and delectable coinage, Baguette Token intends to “connect the culinary and cryptocurrency worlds.” Since its inception, faithful Baguette Token holders have used the cryptocurrency for a number of activities, including online shopping, gaming, and yield farming.
Baguette Token has grown in popularity to the point where it can now be swapped on ATOMARS and ProBit, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange platforms. The coin, like Elongate, can be saved in a MetaMask wallet.
