Mac in a Keyboard lurking inside? That’s what a recently unearthed patent from Apple reveals. The patent says Apple is looking to mix a Mac mini with Magic Keyboard. The keyboard stores all the computer’s components which you then plug into a monitor to build a full computer system.
When Will the Mac in a Keyboard Be Released?
The only piece of evidence that we currently possess that suggests this could become a reality is a patent that was found by Patently Apple and describes a whole Mac that can be housed in a keyboard. The application, which was given the title Computer in an Input Device and was submitted before the end of 2020, was not made public by the United States Patent and Trademark Office until the beginning of 2022.
Mac in a Keyboard Price Rumors
It is far too soon to make any accurate forecasts regarding prices. It is possible that it will be priced similarly to the Raspberry Pi 400, which implements a similar concept at a lower cost, but it is more likely that it will be priced similarly to a conventional desktop computer such as the Mac mini.

Extremely portable electronics tend to be less powerful than their larger equivalents, despite the fact that they are more convenient. Since we’re talking about something as compact as a keyboard, it’s difficult to say how much actual performance could be crammed into such a small space. Storage and processing power will undoubtedly play a part in how Apple decides to price it.
Although it is not an all-in-one computer because there is no display, the keyboard and maybe the mouse are incorporated with the rest of the computer. However, the computer is not an all-in-one computer. This indicates that the prices of those things will be incorporated into the unit as a whole as well.
Pre-orders for Apple products often begin not long after the company unveils a new product. If and when it becomes available, we will post a link on this page where you can pre-order it.
Mac in a Keyboard Features, Specs & Hardware
This gadget might be useful for you if you have the need for more than one workstation, such as at home and at work or in two different rooms in your house, but you don’t want to purchase multiple full computers. If you equip both areas with a monitor, you will be able to transfer the keyboard and computer together to any location you choose without the need to disconnect and reattach the various components that are typically included in a computer.
Even though it is already relatively little, a Mac mini is not quite as portable as a keyboard, and it does not come with either a keyboard or a mouse in the box. This innovation is distinctive since it must incorporate the keyboard in order to function properly; after all, it is the case. Apple claims that touch input may be built-in to provide the functionality of a trackpad, and that it is also possible to link other popular peripheral devices, such as a microphone, to the device.
Apple provides an overview of how it might work:
An enclosure that defines both an internal volume and an external surface might be part of a computing device… The solitary input/output port on the processing unit can be set up to either receive data and power or set up to send data to an external device. Both of these functions are possible. A device for moving air along an airflow pathway could be included in the computer system as an apparatus for moving air. A base that is thermally conductive may be included in the enclosure.
The patent acknowledges that the device is capable of producing heat, which may have an effect on its functioning. For anyone who has ever worked with a computer, this should be completely obvious. However, it is of the utmost importance to address this issue in this particular context because the compact design requires you to cram all of the essential pieces of hardware into the same area as the keyboard. This will undoubtedly lead to overheating if it is not addressed in the appropriate manner.
The problem of controlling the temperature can be solved by dispersing the heat over a wider surface area. Naturally, Apple claims that vents can be utilized to draw in colder air from the surrounding environment and release warmer air from the device. All aside, Mac in a keyboard is a big bang entertainment.
In this approach, the vents are able to allow a natural or passive air circulation system within the enclosure of the computing equipment in order to control the temperature. It is possible for the vents to be constructed in the enclosure in the form of apertures or through-holes, or they may be otherwise defined. One type of vent may consist of elongated parallel slots, channels, perforations, other apertures, or a combination of these and other types of openings.
In the patent, it is mentioned that the device might be able to fold up and that it might even have a cellular antenna.
What about the available space for storage? Or the ports on the peripherals? We do not yet have information regarding these particulars, such as how large or heavy the entire apparatus will be or how powerful Apple is capable of making this system. This page will be updated whenever new information or spec details become available.
